Happy Holidays!
Seeing the Beauty and the Special Moments in everyday life!

Happy Holidays!
Winter weather has shown up in the Bay Area, finally. And it has with gusto. This morning I headed up to the Saratoga Gap area with the goal of exloring the area around Castle Rock for snow scenes. I did find what I went looking for. For me it’s a great pleasure to be outside hiking and photographing. I was not disappointed, in fact I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to experience the snow so close to home. Photographing in these conditions is not always easy, there’s the cold to deal with, the falling snow and water droplets as it warms up. The ground can be very slick. I manged not to fall but did get a cut on my nose on a branch that caught my tripod and camera and came back into my face. I looked like I had been boxing when the blood dried up on my nose. Here are a half dozen images from this outing. Enjoy!

This past week I had a few prints put up on display at local bakery/cafe. They are at the Grain D’or location in Mountain View at 137 E El Camino Real, this is an Andersen Bakery. I was asked earlier this year if I would like to display some of my work to which I said yes The images I selected are from the Polaroid SX-70 photographs that I took 1998-99. There were manipulated by rubbing the fresh emulsion before it hardened. The results can be very impressionistic, surreal or rather imaginative. Here’s one of the images that are on display:

This has gotten me motivated to produce a folio of these SX-70 photographs. I have scanned the originals and have started to retouch them and prepare them for printing. I will start with adding a gallery on my website in January 2009 and then later in the Spring make the final image selections for the folio. The folio will be available for purchase at a reasonable price. The printing will be done using archival ink and paper. The image size will be about 7 x 7.2 inches on an 8.5 x11 sized paper. The page design will look like the image below. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of the folio or would like to see more if the SX-70 images feel free to contact me through my Contact Page.
